Monthly Water Service Rate Decrease

The Board of Directors for Brazoria Fort Bend Counties Municipal Utility District No. 3 (BZFBMUD 3) want to update residents regarding the monthly water and sewer rate decrease that will take effect December 5, 2022.

The monthly minimums for water, and sewer service are each being decreased. This decrease is outlined in the updated District Rate Order, and is summarized below:

How was this decrease calculated?

The District along with the District Operator and the District Financial Advisor performed a rate study and a long-term financial projection analysis which led the Board to the decision to decrease the water and sewer rates. The rate study also factored in rates from neighboring, Districts in similar stages of development. The revenues generated from this new rate structure will still help fund both preventive maintenance and timely system repairs.

The new District rate still accounts for infrastructure maturing over time, and ongoing repair and maintenance that will eventually be needed in the future.

With the decrease, residents of BZFB MUD 3 are paying comparable water rates to most of the neighboring Districts. It is the goal of the Board of Directors to keep water and tax rates manageable for everyone in the community, while maintaining the infrastructure and amenities that make BZFB MUD 3 a desirable place to live.
